Google is cutting spam content by 40% 🤯

Published about 2 months ago • 3 min read

1000s of sites are going down, but not sites using Content at Scale's RankWell® technology. 😉

Reader,

OUCH.

I was sipping coffee this morning, reading headlines about the Google Core update, and chatting with our content team at Content at Scale about it all.

Google's March 2024 Core Update rolled out Tuesday – and it aims to reduce low-quality, unoriginal content in search results by 40%.

A marketer was seen in the ZimmWriter group saying they lost more than 10+ niche websites built with ChatGPT, Claude, and ZimmWriter.

Google cracked down on them all, in a single day.

Adios.

😰

In other words, they spammed Google with a nonhelpful AI writer and now they're getting taken down.

Shoulda used CaS... 😅

Google's focus in search has always been clear:

Your content needs to be helpful.

Google doesn't want abusive content – which is defined as content published 100% for manipulating search – in the rankings.

They know that spam simply frustrates traffic and doesn't help real humans find a real answer.

Google updates will never harm us if we're always making sure the content we publish is original, helpful, usable, not spam, the good old basis of what makes quality content, well, quality (readable).

"Creating large amounts of unoriginal content that provides little to no value to users" was one of the key points Google said in their March Core update that rolled out this Tuesday. Whether it's by an AI or a human, it doesn't matter – it must be helpful.

Google's extra E in EEAT, added December 2022 (riiiight after ChatGPT came out – not by chance!) reflects their focus for Google on cracking down on mass spam onslaught.

This is our core focus - helpful, deeply-researched, on-point content.

It's our goal at Content at Scale to give you access to the BEST AI SEO content writer – one you can use, without a bunch of prompting or back-end setup, that immediately generates on-point content ready to publish, StraightOuttaAI, for the keyword.

In fact, we've put tons of revenue straight back into the development of our tool. There's no VC-funding here – it's 100% the dollars our customers pay us that go right back in, on a daily basis, to building the most robust, real, and helpful SEO AI writer.

In fact – Justin, our founder, was the first to crack the code after months of solo work / lots of things breaking/failing, to finally produce "undetectable" (reads like a human wrote it) content out of a proprietary multi-LLM stack.

Which, by the way, Google is really cracking down on in this update... content that is detectable as AI.

Our SEO content product suite, trademarked under the name RankWell®, is getting some major upgrades this month to make it even more of a bullet-proof solution for you.

Coming soon, we will be able to build an entire database of research per SEO blog, besides conducting real-time SERP analysis that crawls everything on your topic. Hundreds of pages will go into the background research, building the best bank of facts for a single blog so we can generate real-time, helpful insights.

A multi-LLM stack we fine-tune daily generates the content from there, and our advanced SEO editor tells you exactly what you need to do to publish StraightOuttaAI.

We're repositioning our entire site around RankWell® – we believe in our core original product that much. Thousands of users are seeing real rankings with Content at Scale's proprietary SEO AI content technology.

Were you hit? What are the specific no-no's Google is going to penalize?

Our amazing SEO strategist at Content at Scale, Farnaz, has been analyzing what kind of content is getting hit from the March Core update, and it looks to center around:

  • Mass detectable content (better use an undetectable SEO writer)
  • Articles that beat around the bush and don't give a clear, straight answer to the search term
  • Since Google is favoring/partnering with Reddit, we believe an immediate/short answer equals helpful content
  • Link farms, guest post websites
  • Websites full of ads, poor UX (this seems to be the most common case)

Don't do any of the above.

Want to check to see if your website got hit?

Two easy ways to check, from Farnaz

Search for your website in Google like: “site:website.com” and see if results are showing.

Check your Google Search Console, and see if you lost any rankings or got a spam alert (left side bar, Checking Security & Manual Actions), like this one:

Reader, Big news. You know that writing framework I built a year ago, CRAFT? 🤯 Well, Justin + team achieved the impossible. And it's BEAUTIFUL. CRAFT is now fully automated with the new process we run using Deep Research. I'm seeing it for myself. This level of content automation even meets my high standards. 😍 I'm seeing... Content that doesn't have fluff. Has a well-written hook to open up each paragraph... Backs up every claim with a solid link to an authority source. Isn't...
